Nyungar Tours was established in 2018
by Kerry-Ann Winmar, a Whadjuk Yorga from the Perth region.

Nyungar Tours was created as an opportunity to share authentic Aboriginal Culture with visitors from all over the world. With family support, Nyungar Tours has expanded and now operates in Mindeerup (South Perth), Mooro Katta Gar-Up (Kings Park) and the broader Perth region.

The Cultural Tour guides at Nyungar Tours look forward to a future of bringing awareness and sharing Aboriginal culture with everyone, Australians from near and far, as well as international visitors to our Country. We welcome you to walk with us.

Kerry-Ann Winmar

PRINCIPAL DIRECTOR.

Kerry-Ann Winmar is a Whadjuk and Ballardong traditional Owner and Elder with strong family connections across the Perth Metropolitan and the Southwest of Western Australia. She has extensive knowledge to share about Nyungar language, heritage, and Culture which was handed down from her parents.
Running Nyungar Tours involves storytelling, hands-on activities and discussion sessions to ensure that visitors from all parts of the world walk away with a deeper understanding of Aboriginal Culture, traditions and practices.

Kerry-Ann is a strong advocate for individuals who find it difficult to have a voice and continues to empower women through her Yorgars-only workshops and tours. She believes that creating and maintaining strong relationships with community and family members is key to Cultural education and preservation and has goals to continue growing her business and employ additional family members in future.

Kerry-Ann continues to be an inspirational leader for her community despite setbacks and aspires to connect Nyungar Tours further into the tourism industry here in Perth, Western Australia. By bringing the tour and workshop experiences to visitors of all nationalities, Nyungar Tours seeks to provide entertainment, enrichment, and knowledge about Culture to ultimately preserve traditions and awareness towards Indigenous Culture.

Andria Spencer

LEAD GUIDE.

Andria Spencer nee Jacobs is a Whadjuk Balladong yok with connections to Yued and Wagl Kaip. Andria has been guiding for two years and got involved with Nyungar Tours when her aunty Kerry-Ann reached out to the family for support to grow the business.

Andria absolutely loves working in the park and thoroughly enjoys the peace and calm of being outdoors. She enjoys the truth-telling aspect of the tours and sharing her knowledge with visitors from all over the world.

The Nyungar Tours basket weaving workshops are led by Andria where she shares the craft that has been passed down through generations and which she learnt from her Aunties and Nana. Andria explains that every basket tells a story, about people, places and family journeys. Andria finds that as she sits and weaves, she feels connected to land, people and her culture.
